《什么叫修行》中说：“人身难得，暇满人身宝更难得。”
什么叫暇满呢？“暇”指的是有闲暇，未出生於八无暇处，有空闲来修持正法，称为闲暇。“满”指的是一切顺缘都具足圆满。总括来说，“暇”就是远离修行的逆缘障碍，“满”就是具有修行所需的一切有利条件。
所以，“人身难得，暇满人身宝更难得。”可以译为“It is difficult to incarnate as a human being. It is even more difficult to incarnate as a human being with the opportunity to encounter the true Buddha-dharma.”
